Parrish Hall opens Fairfield Porter exhibit

The Parrish Hall Museum has comprised the optimal petri dish to culture the observers experience with the Fairfield Porter: Raw exhibit currently on display. The Creative Process Of An American Master is an earnest opportunity to encounter the essence of shared art and it’s process.

Porter’s low key production of representational work in the midst of the Abstract Expressionist movement attracted countless criticisms. His idealistic passion dictated that a painting was never really finished, that it would continue to grow and mature with the viewer.

The included 40 pieces were meticulously chosen from the over 250 works donated to Parrish Hall by Anne Porter, his wife and his Southampton estate after his death in 1975.
